Why Our CSA?

Our CSA runs for 18 weeks generally from May into September.  Each weekly share includes 8-12 freshly harvested items. Though we don’t offer fully customized shares, we willl pack your bag with consideration to food allergies or family preferences. Read more about our ‘opt-out’ program under Frequently Asked Questions below. One of the things that is unique about our program is that we deliver directly to your home. Currently we make deliveries on Fridays to State College and Thursday to Bellefonte. The cost of a share for 2023 is $612 which includes the delivery or $540 if you pick-up at the farm.

This year we will be consolidating the delivery of CSA shares with orders placed through our online store. This will mean CSA members have the opportunity to add items from the store (fresh chicken, pork, eggs,  baked goods or extra veggies), to be included with their weekly share.

If you like to cook or would like to add more healthy options to your diet, our CSA is a great opportunity to experience the whole range of vegetables that can be grown in our temperate zone. We regularly provide recipes for what to do with the veggies you receive. Our members must enjoy the experience of eating their way

What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture is a way for consumers to buy local foods from a farm by entering into a contract with the farmer. Members pay for their share in advance. By investing in the farm at the start of the growing season, members provide cash flow to the farm when it is most needed to buy seeds, fertilizer, supplies, etc. The members benefit by receiving local, fresh, healthy food delivered once a week. Because farming is unpredictable, CSA members share in the bounty as well as the potential for a crop failure.

    What about substitutions?

The list of items to be included in the share is emailed as early in the week as possible. If there is something on the list you won’t use or your family doesn’t like, you can ‘opt-out’ from receiving it in your delivery. To ‘opt-out’ simply reply to the email and suggest a replacement if you like. Each member will be allowed to ‘opt-out’ with replacement four times during the season. If you have a food allergy or a particular vegetable you will not eat, we will do our best to find a substitution. This will be our choice so you may end up with more tomatoes or carrots, but it will be produce that you can eat. We welcome questions, comments and will try our best to accommodate.

What happens to your share when you go on vacation?

We anticipate that if all goes well with Covid-19 vaccinations, there will be a pent up demand for summer and fall vacations in 2021. We are proposing to allow you to defer up to four weeks of CSA shares until the end of the season. For any week that you take for vacations, you’ll have $34 credit at the online store to be use after the CSA season ends.

    What is the payment schedule?

    • Shares are sold on a first come first serve basis until we are sold out.
    • We require a $50.00 non-refundable deposit to reserve your share. Payment in full is due by April 1st.
    • If your family finances require an extended payment plan, please contact us for options.
    • If we haven’t filled our membership quota you are welcome to contact us any time during the season.
